3 Antique Dolls

by Amanda Kuzak

Hi

I found this set of dolls, 2 completed dolls and 1 doll form. I would like to know more about them, they are pretty old judging by their clothing.

One is in pretty bad condition but the other is ok. Who makes them? Let me know if you know anything about these dolls.

Thanks,
Amanda

Walker doll
by: Anonymous

Hello. The doll on the right is not a doll form...it's an odd and rare type called a Walker Doll, made by Harry Coleman, patented (I think) around 1917. He was a ventriloquist, and little girls used to enjoy his puppets so much that he decided to try a doll that they could "walk" with the aid of springs and mechanical design. The bodies were built as hollow cages to cut down on weight. Some had metal heads, some had composition heads. I have one of these, and they really do walk if you hold their hands and lean them back and forth.

Horseman

The one in the yellow looks like a 1939 Horseman. Look on the back of the neck.
