Small Kestner w/Over the knee shirred Stockings

by Louella

Hi. I wanted share a wonderful little doll I have added to my collection. Although not marked with any ID other than #1's on the back of her head and upper arms I do believe she resembles the work of Kestner.

To my knowledge, she is all original except for her wig and clothing. Her inner thighs are lined with kidd leather. She has lovely painted eyebrows and lashes with brown glass sleep eyes.

Although she has a German look, ...a fellow doll collector told me she is considered an all bisque mignonette. I'd always thought a mignonette had French origins.

Seems there is always something new to learn about old dolls!

All Bisque Doll Books
by: Louella

Thank you for the book suggestions. I currently have the Patricia Smith book. Was wondering if you have read the book titled "The Little Ones, French & German all bisque dolls" by Florence Theriault? This particular book seems very informative on all bisque dolls as well.

I wanted to post a picture the doll dressed w/her replacement wig & dress but didn't see a way to up load additional photos. Am I missing something or is there only one photo allowed per posting?

Kestner

She is lovely; I recommend two books. Genevieve Angione's All Bisque and Half Dolls and a book Pat Smith did on All Bisque dolls. I think the title may be All Bisue Dolls. Also check A Bibliography of doll and Toy Sources, which is a book you can buy on Amazon. Good Luck.
