Effanbee Phinny Boyle Boxer Doll

by Fred Hiser
(Maugansville, MD)

Can not find any information on this doll. Would like to know if someone knows approximately the age of this doll and how much it is worth.

The name on the back of his head is "Effanbee". The robe has "Phinny Boyle" on the back of it. I believe this doll was made in the image of Francis J Boyle, the boxer that was born in 1893 and died in 1973.

The doll is 14" tall. Clothes are showing some wear. And the doll has some age cracks, but are not bad. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

I have the exact same doll---given to me as a gift in the late 40's. He was new and in his box but did not have the robe. I have searched for info on him and yours is the only match I have run across. would also like to know the value now. Some years ago a doll dealer wanted to buy him but I wasn't ready to sell then. I have a few dolls of value.
