Antique felt doll

by Carol
(Maryland)

My husband inherited a felt doll from his late parent's estate. The doll is all felt and stuffed tightly. The face is caricature-like and the features are painted.

This doll has movable arms, legs, and head. The overall height is 10". It appears to be both hand and machine-stitched.

My husband seems to recall that the doll belonged to his father (born 1920); although I can't be sure, I thought I remembered hearing that it was his Mother's (born 1920) or even Grandmother's (born 1892).

I would like to know more about this doll. Thanks for any help.

Hi.
Your doll is an early Lenci doll, a winker.
Do you have the outfits ?
You can see it in the book of Nancy Lazenby : LENCI, The history and the dolls.
Regards
W
